Maurica has been with Friends for Life since 2017. Her roles have comprised of Inclusion Coordinator, Inclusion team Lead and Early Childhood Consultant. She provides professional development, consulting, mentoring and coaching to our teams across the organization and supports many corporate services initiatives.
In addition to her Early Childhood Diploma. Maurica brings 25 years of experiences, training, and knowledge from her various roles over the years in the early childhood sector. Before Friends for Life, she was part of the provincial team that rolled out the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework for Early Learning and Child Care in 2010. Maurica helped create the learning protocols for provincial implementation and traveled the province facilitating learning seminars and coaching for early childhood educators.
When Maurica was an educator in a developmental center in 2014, she developed specialized skills working with children of diverse needs. This includes supports for neurodiversity, motor abilities, sensory needs, snoezelen practices, multimodal communication, speech, and language development and emotional co regulation.
In her free time, she loves gardening, challenging herself with games like chess, enjoys magnet fishing and metal detecting. She loves spending time with her life partner and their grown children camping, hiking, and playing games.
