Storm Days
In the event of severe weather, Friends for Life Childcare Centre prioritizes the safety and well-being of the children, families, and staff. In the event of severe weather, we will follow the school board notifications in your region, regarding closures and delayed openings. Specific considerations are outlined below:
Delayed Opening:
If the school in your region announces closure, our childcare center will delay opening until 10:00 a.m. Reassessment of weather conditions will be done at
9:00 a.m. to determine if the centre will remain closed for the day or continue to open at the delayed time. This delay in opening will allow staff to safely arrive and give us time to prepare the center for the day.
Director's Discretion
There are instances when the school board in your region might announce closures prematurely or indicate they will delay opening, based on weather predictions. In such cases, the final decision on whether our centres delay opening or remaining open will be at the discretion of the Director. The Director will assess the actual weather conditions and the safety of travel before making a final determination. Guidance from the RCMP, Metro Transit, and staff availability for travelling are all taken into consideration.
Unforeseen Occurrences
In addition to weather-related closures, our childcare center may also delay opening, close early, or remain closed due to other unforeseen occurrences (i.e. flood, extended power outages, public health emergencies, other facility-related challenges such as heating or water challenges, etc.). We will make every effort to remain open. If we find it necessary for the safety of children, families, and employees, Friends for Life reserves the right to close, open late or close early due to weather conditions or other facility related problems.
Tuition fees for these cancellations will not be refunded.
